Carol Ai & Elizabeth Ai

Their love of dresses started before they were born. Their mother and grandmother were both talented seamstresses in their home country that taught the Ai sisters how to craft their own clothes and appreciate textiles early on.

Carol & Elizabeth are fascinated by clothes; the intricate details of each garment, the endless selection of textiles, its transformative powers once married to the human form – simple and complex. They love feeling good in what they wear, how they dress as individuals and how they help dress each other. In 2009 they put that passion into forming AI FOR AI – the extension of their love for daily creative expression (and the occasional transgression, of course).
